General information on working visa

• Foreign national who enters Russia on visa basis cannot issue himself/herself (without employer) work permit and working visa 

• Consent documents (quota, company permit, work permit  letter of accreditation, labor visa etc.) are issued for the term of no longer than 1 year 

• Period of validity of consent documents may be prolonged. Documents can be renewed for a period of no longer than 1 year. Renewal procedure is almost identical to the procedure of primary issuance 

• Period of consent documents preparation is approximately 2,5-3 months. Precise term depends on various factors (whether an employer has a quota, application for quota, job vacancy for the foreign national, quality of work of civil service which is involved in the process of preparation of these documents etc.) 

• Work permit and working visa cannot be used as grounds for acquiring temporary residence or permanent residence status
